A layout without well thought-out and interesting scenery is just a train set.

We are in November now and steaming towards summer. The weather has been extreme in many parts of the country and we hope that you have not been too badly effected by it. There is still some rain and wind to come so stay warm and dry by pottering around the layout, maybe finally getting around to making a new model building , looking at changing a piece of scenery or upgrading rolling stock or locomotives.

Our big news is a purchase of some excellent used HO scale vehicles. Check out our Used Cars page in the Vehicles Category. Whether its a Porsche for an cityscape, a VW Combi van for hipsters to drive on your country roads, Utes for deliveries or excavators for a building site, they are all there and at second hand prices. We may not be able to afford to put butter on our bread but you can afford to put these on your layout.

As mentioned delivery charges have risen and are becoming a bit of an issue so we have decided to do what we can to help and from 1 January 2024 we will deliver all orders over $250.00 free of charge to an urban address .

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR OVERSEAS BUYERS

Customers in the United States of America should be aware that the imposition of a tariff on all goods shipped to you from New Zealand has lead to NZ Post refusing to ship any parcels to the States until the logistical issues have been ironed out.
Their website states that the suspension of mail was due to"the removal of the duty-free threshold and the introduction of the tariffs, which are due to apply on items arriving in the US from August 29. We expect that this suspension will be short term.”

Anna Capri Trains and Models will post overseas and PayPal is available for those who wish to use it.
The overseas buyer should be aware that New Zealand Post is run by elderly ladies in nylon cardigans. These ladies are often slow moving, sometimes grumpy but always utterly honest and trustworthy. This means that we can guarantee that your parcel will leave New Zealand heading in the right direction. After that its a lottery, even for tracked parcels. If you live in a country where nylon cardigans are in short supply we cannot and do not take any responsibility for the safety and delivery of your package.
We are mindful of the risks of posting fragile and expensive items off shore and we package as carefully as we can but take no responsibility for damage or loss.
Please also be aware that we are, quite literally, at the end of the earth and NZ Post charges like a wounded bull. If you are interested in an item please get in touch and we will give you a quote for delivery.

The focus is on American HO scale but can also supply some UK and European products.

About Us

Anna Capri Trains was started by Rex Harris in the Manawatu over forty years ago. Rex was a well-respected small trader with a wealth of knowledge that he was always happy to share. Over those forty years a large and varied amount of stock was built up, some of it now vintage, collectable and unobtainable elsewhere.

We have taken over Anna Capri’s stock and are offering it to a wider audience via our internet site, we plan to ensure that the good name of Anna Capri which Rex built up through reliability and integrity remains at the forefront of our business.

Fraser is a long term model railway enthusiast, starting on the lounge floor with his first train set at the age of five and his obsession has only grown since then, his long suffering wife and two daughters indulged him for forty years until finally along came a grandson with a passion to equal his own.
Anna Capri Trains and Models is not just about trains however, there is a wide range of model cars and trucks, mostly HO size and dated from the 1960’s to 1980’s, many of these are no longer in production so if you are looking for something special we are worth asking. There are also many kit set models of buildings, everything from an undertakers to a cannery and from flat fronts to go on a wall to factories and hotels.

We are a webstore or online shop with a difference – we considered going down usual 'shopping basket' line but it was expensive, complicated and before we had gone too far into it a queue of people, rubbing their hands together and wanting a piece of the action had formed. Not that the online shopping platform, Paypal and the bank shouldn’t be paid for their services but we thought it would be better if you and I kept our money and we did things a little differently. With this in mind we have put in place our enquiry form. A simple method of ordering what you want and an opportunity to ask any questions. Once you have chosen what you would like please submit the form and we will get back to you with the total cost including postage and the appropriate account number to pay into and we will get your purchase off to you.
