- Walthers Cornerstone Trestle with Deck Girder Bridge Kit # 933-3147
Walthers Cornerstone Trestle with Deck Girder Bridge Kit # 933-3147
From the earliest days of railroading bridges like the Walthers Cornerstone Trestle with Deck Girder Bridge have been used to cross low spots, streams and other obstacles. In many cases a trestle was a cheaper, faster option for keeping construction moving.
Trestles consist of a series of piers, called bents, which support the track. Wood was the favored building material until the 1940s, and many survive on branches and less busy lines to this day. Where piers could not be erected, such as in a flowing stream, a highway, or across another railroad, a deck girder bridge would be installed as part of the structure. This versatile kit opens lots of detailing options along your right-of-way.
Perfect for use in virtually any era, the detailed plastic parts simulate the all-wood construction of the prototypes. The optional deck girder bridge gives you added flexibility, whether installed with existing scenery, or in planning new construction. Complete instructions make construction quick and easy.
As shown the Trestle with Deck Girder Bridge measures: 38.7 x 10 x 10cm
This trestle's wooden bents can also be modified for use as an approach to smaller girder bridges in the Cornerstone Bridge system.
- Use as-is or modify the length or height to fit your scenes
- Great for steam or diesel-era layouts
- Easy-to-build plastic kit
- Molded in appropriate colors
